A little bit about me
I am a painter, designer, jeweller and printmaker.
I grew up in Oxford and originally trained as a textile designer. Now I live in Oxfordshire with my husband and two children and divide my time between painting, printing and silver-smithing.
My textile designs have been exhibited and sold at trade fairs in Frankfurt and New York and to major retailers in the UK.
I have regularly exhibited my paintings and prints in local galleries and I am preparing for my 6th year exhibiting in Oxfordshire Artweeks.
My work is in private collections worldwide.
I love painting seascapes, still-lifes and flowers and in 2010 I won The People’s Choice Award for my painting of the Didcot Towers called “You’ll miss us when we’re gone!” Following that success I began to paint local landscapes, focusing on Wittenham Clumps and my beautiful hometown of Oxford. This lead to me being accepted into The Oxford Art book which is due to be published in September 2018.
In addition to this I have been developing my printmaking skills with Oxford Printmakers, particularly soft ground etching and I absolutely love it. It’s wonderful to be able to explore a particular discipline in depth. I have so much still to learn.
My silver jewellery career began by doing a Precious Metal Clay course at my local Art Centre. I was instantly hooked. After a while I discovered JASSO, an organisation of jewellers and silversmiths based in Abingdon and they helped me develop basic skills and gave me access to the equipment in their workshop. Their help and advice has been and continues to be invaluable. My jewellery is generally inspired by nature and made from fine and sterling silver and semi precious beads and fresh water pearls. This year I have also been using recycled tins and silver spoons to make my pieces. .
I adore creating and am delighted to be able to show you a selection of my work.
During May each year, Oxfordshire artists and crafts people have an opportunity to exhibit their work. There are nearly 500 stunning exhibitions throughout the county, ranging from group exhibitions in large public spaces to individual artists showing in their own homes or studios and more than 100,000 visitors cross our thresholds!
This year I will be exhibiting in Shipton on Cherwell, at OPC and with the North Moreton group.
Oxford Printmakers Co-operative is an open access Fine Art Print workshop offering a high standard of printmaking facilities.
I make regular use of their fabulous facilities and as a member of OPC I am able to exhibit with them at their various exhibitions throughout the year.
